• First Bend of the Yangtze + Dukezong: river viewpoint and old-town recovery time.
• Songzanlin + Pudacuo: monastery and highland lake walking (Shangri-La 8D7N Day 4; 10D Day 9).
• Meili + Feilai (+ Balagezong on deeper lines): weather dependent; sunrise not guaranteed.

This trades away Dali tie-dye and Erhai time on shorter calendars—it does not replace it.

Minimum Days and Altitude Reality

Count two to three daylight blocks minimum: gorge transit, monastery/park, buffer for weather or altitude.

• Altitude: Shangri-La city ~3,200 m; Meili viewpoints higher. Slow first evening; no gorge hike after late arrival.
