A private Yunnan tour should protect lake mornings, craft hours, and highland rest—not compress Dali, Lijiang, and Shangri-La into a three-night sprint. Altitude and winding roads are hard constraints; private transfers and editable day sheets keep them from dominating the trip.
If you want a ready spine to edit, start from our Yunnan 6D5N tour, then add nights where craft or monastery time matters more than movement.

When you compress, craft hours and recovery go first. Under six nights total, drop Shangri-La or keep only Dali + Lijiang—see our Dali and Lijiang day-split notes. Treat Kunming as airport logic, not a full chapter, unless its museums matter to you.
Keep the tempos on separate days: lake light; stone lanes plus craft; highland monastery and slow walking. Do not shoot all three in one day.
Keep one half-day for Erhai (bike, private car pull-offs, or a short boat—choose one). Keep another for a bookable craft session rather than souvenir streets alone. Cangshan cable options are weather-dependent; treat them as elective, not mandatory proof you “did the mountain.”

Enter core lanes early or late. Midday can shift to Black Dragon Pool edges, a museum, or a courtyard lunch away from the loudest bars. If Yulong is on the list, dedicate a full day and accept cable-car crowd management—public mountain systems are not privately emptied.

Plan slower first hours: short walks, tea, early night. Monastery visits work better with a guide who explains layout and etiquette than with a rushed photo circuit. Prayer-flag landscapes and town markets fill a second day without forcing a third high pass unless you are fit and acclimatized.
Book one maker session you can actually schedule; a half-day of craft beats another souvenir street. A small contemporary gallery or design café can close the arc. Nightlife stays optional.
Brief TravelToQin with season, whether Shangri-La is essential, and whether craft is non-negotiable. We revise from the 6D5N sample—add nights or drop Shangri-La—or build longer. Tailor-made / contact.
