@ People's Park — Chengdu's beloved public park, famous for its open-air teahouses where locals spend hours playing mahjong and chatting under the trees.

~ Afternoon

@ Tea house + Sichuan Opera — watch the legendary face-changing (bianlian) performance at a traditional Chengdu teahouse. Jinli Town — a reconstructed Qing-dynasty commercial street beside Wuhou Shrine, filled with snack stalls, craft shops and red lanterns.

~ Night

@ Kuaizhai Alley (Wide and Narrow Alleys) — a trio of Qing-dynasty lanes with courtyard bars, boutique restaurants and street performers. Drop off to hotel. Dinner at a recommended restaurant.

* Chengdu Panda Breeding Base · Dujiangyan Water System

~ Morning

@ Chengdu Panda Breeding Base — home to over 150 giant pandas and red pandas. Best visited in the morning during feeding time.

~ Afternoon

@ Dujiangyan Irrigation System — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world's oldest functional water-conservation infrastructure, built in 256 BC. Scenic walking paths through the ancient sluice gates and temples.

~ Night

@ Drop off to hotel. Dinner at a recommended restaurant.

* Leshan Giant Buddha

~ Daytime

@ 2-hour drive to Leshan. Leshan Giant Buddha — a 71-metre Tang-dynasty stone Buddha carved into the cliff face at the confluence of three rivers; the world's largest stone Buddha. Boat trip around the statue for the best full-body view.

~ Night

@ Drop off to hotel. Dinner at a recommended restaurant.

* Sanxingdui Museum

@ Breakfast. Self-exploration. 1-hour drive.

~ Afternoon

@ Sanxingdui Museum — home to extraordinary 3,000-year-old Bronze Age artefacts from the ancient Shu civilisation, including the iconic golden sun bird and giant bronze masks. UNESCO World Intangible Cultural Heritage.

~ Night

@ Drop off back to hotel in Chengdu.

@ Chengdu IFS — known for the giant panda sculpture climbing its exterior wall. Taikoo Li — open-air lifestyle precinct of heritage lanes alongside the ancient Daci Temple. SKP Shopping Center — Chengdu's premium luxury retail destination.
