Lijiang attractions on an 8-day Yunnan line are Yulong on day 6 and Baisha with Dongba culture on day 7. The old town is evening only. Lashi Hai is on the six-day line. None of these are bar recommendations.
Yulong — the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain visible from Lijiang old town on clear days — is a high-altitude half-day. The cable cars (there are several) go up to different elevations. The glacier card is the highest; the牦牛坪 (Yak Meadow) and 云杉坪 (Spruce Flat) are lower. Altitude sickness is a real risk at the top — the park advises against the glacier cable car for first-time visitors with no altitude acclimatization.
The Yulong day belongs late in the itinerary, not at the start. Arriving in Lijiang and going straight up Yulong is the sequence that causes problems. The best time to visit Yunnan page has the seasonal notes; the Yunnan itinerary page has the day-by-day structure the 8-day line follows.
Lijiang old town at night is one of the better evening walks in western China. The architecture is intact, the lighting is managed, and the canals run through the central streets. This is worth doing on the evening of arrival.
It is not worth a full day. The old town as a daytime attraction is a version of the same place with different lighting and more souvenir vendors. Daytime Lijiang is better spent at Baisha — the older village north of the old town, with Dongba Naxi script inscriptions and less commercial infrastructure — or at the Black Dragon Pond view point that frames the whole thing.
Lashi Hai is a high plateau lake south of Lijiang, reachable by a half-day trip. It is on the Yunnan 6-day itinerary as the outdoor half-day — horse riding is the main activity, and the lake itself is the destination. It is not a full day; the return to Lijiang is in the afternoon.
The Dali and Lijiang page covers how the two cities connect across the full Yunnan corridor. Shangri-La (Zhongdian) is a separate destination north of Lijiang and requires at least two additional nights — the Shangri-La page covers that extension separately.
If six days in Yunnan means Dali and Lijiang without a Yulong day, that is a reasonable cut. The old town, Baisha, and Lashi Hai fill a two-night Lijiang stop without the altitude and logistics of the snow mountain. The mountain is not the reason most travelers come to Lijiang — the old town and the plateau lake are. Yulong is the optional addition that needs good weather and a clear sky.
