China Trip Planner: Who Cuts Cities Before the Car Starts

Three Jobs People Confuse

"China trip planner" in your search box is a job title, not a generic phrase. The person you are looking for cuts cities and sets the arc of the trip before any driver or guide enters the car. That is one job. It is not the guide who narrates the Forbidden City on day three. It is also not the OTA agent who takes your deposit and hands you a voucher.

Three roles, three different people:

• The planner. Reads your party profile, your night count, and your hard refusals (no hiking a closed section, no joining strangers, no Monday Forbidden City, grandparents need a rest day). Returns a region choice, a city count, and a private day-by-day shape. Does not travel with you.

Bring Refusals, Not a Wishlist

A planner cannot do the job from a wishlist. "I want to see the highlights" is not information. "Two grandparents over 70, one nine-year-old, seven nights total, no hikes, no group coach, no Monday at the Forbidden City, we can eat anything, we want at least one slow morning" is information. The refusal list is what tells the planner what to cut.

Common refusal points worth naming up front:

• Closed sections of the Great Wall. Jiankou and "wild" parts close for restoration with little notice. If you refuse those, the planner shifts to Mutianyu or Jinshanling without surprise.
• Fixed-departure buses. A planner working party-only ground can drop them. A planner slotting you into a shared coach cannot.
• Monday at the Forbidden City. Closed most Mondays. If you arrive in Beijing on a Sunday night and want Forbidden City on Monday, you have to add a day.
• Monday at the Summer Palace, Tuesday at the National Museum. Same logic, different sites. The planner's job is to spot these before you book flights.
• Late dinners and early mornings with older travelers. This is a pacing refusal, not a sightseeing one.
